Kara and Dana – Fort C.F. Smith, Arlington

Karl was honored to be the photographer for the wedding of Kara and Dana. The event took place at Fort C.F. Smith in Arlington, Virginia on a gorgeous sunny October day. The ceremony was so heartfelt, Karl and his wife Alison caught themselves tearing up over the stories and readings by the bride, groom, and their dearest friends. It was an event centered around love – love for their close friends and family, and love for one another. Here are a few images from the day:

The Wharf Rats – new Deal Cafe

Karl had the opportunity to photograph The Wharf Rats perform when they were at The New Deal Cafe in Greenbelt, MD.   The Wharf Rats is a popular local band that stays true to the spirit, music and traditions of the Grateful Dead, but also mining the deep veins of other music genres.  They put on a fun performance, inspiring much of the audience to get up and dance.  Below is a letter from Carl of The Wharf Rats upon receiving the photographs from the show:

Karl,
What can I say but THANK YOU for your outstanding photography of my band! You captured each and every member with clarity in their true likeness. There is one photo of me that i must admit is one of the best pics I’ve ever seen of myself, so thanks so much.
-Carl

Lori and Mike – River Farm

Karl and his wife Alison had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Lori and Mike at River Farm, Virginia.  It was a gorgeous day, and a beautiful location.  The historic home overlooks the Potomac, and is located on 25 acres of beautifully manicured gardens and lush forest of the American Horticultural Society

Lori and Mike’s wedding was a true melding of two families – their wedding party was their children, their children sand and played the mandolin during the ceremony, a nephew’s band performed for the cocktail hour, and the bride’s son played bass for a few songs with the reception band.  It was a lovely event, and the Garys were honored to be part of it.
